Lauren Kanter-Lawrence, Esq. implements all aspects of the firm’s communications and business development strategy. As a member of CMM’s Leadership Team, Lauren also spearheads the firm’s training committee, where she is responsible for organizing and implementing programs that support the development and retention of the firm’s professionals.
Lauren coordinates or drafts all firm communications including social media content, press releases, newsletters, blogs, client advisories, spotlight features, and other media. She oversees the content and design of the firm’s website and also develops all topics and content for CMM’s educational programming for the business community (CMM Academy), live-streaming video interview series (CMM Live), breakfast series, and other programming.
Drawing from her background as an attorney, Lauren also develops and coordinates CMM’s in-house continuing legal education program, devising the curriculum for the firm’s full calendar of courses, as well as the firm’s professional development initiatives. She works closely with the firm’s Managing Partner and senior attorneys on business development, including speaking engagements and presentations.
Lauren joined CMM in 2008 as an Associate attorney and rose to Senior Associate practicing in the areas of commercial litigation and corporate transactions. She has represented clients in complex state and federal litigation matters including actions involving RICO, zoning, civil rights, fiduciary duty, and breach of contract. She has extensive appellate experience drafting briefs and conducting motion practice before the New York State Appellate Division, New York State Court of Appeals, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, as well as petitions for certiorari to the United States Supreme Court.
Prior to beginning her legal career, Lauren focused on writing and editing at a book development company, where her work was published by several major publishing companies.
