Lauren Kanter-Lawrence, Esq. implements all aspects of the firm’s communications and business development strategy.  She oversees or drafts all firm communications including social media content, press releases, newsletters, blogs, client advisories, website, spotlight features, and other media. She also develops all content for the firm’s live-streaming video interview series (CMM Live), breakfast series, and educational programming for the business community.

Lauren also works closely with the firm’s senior attorneys on their business development initiatives, speaking engagements, and presentations. Drawing from her legal experience, she also develops and oversees the firm’s in-house continuing legal education program, devising the curriculum for the firm’s full calendar of courses. Working closely with the Managing Partner, Lauren determines the agenda and materials for all internal training sessions on topics ranging from business development to negotiation.

Lauren joined CMM in 2008 as an Associate attorney and rose to Senior Associate practicing in the areas of commercial litigation and corporate transactions.  She has represented clients in complex state and federal litigation matters including actions involving RICO, zoning, civil rights, fiduciary duty, and breach of contract.  She has extensive appellate experience drafting briefs and conducting motion practice before the New York State Appellate Division, New York State Court of Appeals, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, as well as petitions for certiorari to the United States Supreme Court.  Lauren is also experienced in drafting and negotiating contracts for a variety of corporate transactions and has represented clients before various state agencies including the New York State Department of Labor and Attorney General’s Office.

Prior to beginning her legal career, Lauren focused on writing and editing at a book development company, where her work was published by several major publishing companies.
