Melissa Sidor believes in a client-centered approach to practicing law. She practices in the areas of estate planning, estate administration, business transactions, commercial and residential real estate transactions, land use and zoning, and tax-exempt organizations.
Melissa assists families, including high-net-worth clients, plan for their future by utilizing a variety of estate planning techniques. Her clients benefit from her nearly two decades of experience, which enables her to formulate and implement the best plan for each client’s particular circumstances. Such plans include Wills; Revocable Living Trusts for the purpose of avoiding probate, planning for potential disability, and facilitating privacy; Irrevocable Living Trusts to minimize estate taxes, such as with Family Trusts and Qualified Personal Residence Trusts; Irrevocable Trusts for the purpose of protecting assets in the event of long term care; life insurance planning with Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts; business succession planning, including the use of limited liability companies and sales to Intentionally Defective Grantor Trusts; Powers of Attorney; Health Care Proxies; Living Wills; and Prenuptial Agreements. Melissa also assists clients with the administration of loved ones’ estates and helps clients navigate estate litigation when disputes arise.
In addition to her estate planning and administration work, Melissa works with clients to negotiate and structure the purchase or sale of existing businesses, partnership and joint venture agreements, employment and independent contractor agreements, and many other commercial and business contracts.
Further, Melissa represents clients in a wide range of real estate transactions and land use matters such as sales, purchases, leases, and zoning analyses of residential and commercial real estate. She advises and represents clients on 1031 exchanges and sales of development rights to government entities.
Lastly, Melissa assists not-for profit entities organize, apply for tax-exempt status, and manage ongoing legal compliance, as well as with the preparation, review, and negotiation of commercial contracts.
Melissa lives in Westhampton Beach with her two sons, where she volunteers extensively and gives her time in support of her children’s schools, local athletic leagues, and political campaigns.
