Joseph C. Vozza is a dedicated and resourceful lawyer who brings significant hands-on experience and meticulous attention to detail to every matter he handles. A major focus of his practice is commercial and residential real estate. His work as a real estate attorney spans lending, acquisitions, sales, and leasing on Long Island and the New York metropolitan area, representing private clients, national institutional clients, and investors. Joe also has substantial experience working with banks and private lenders in connection with property acquisition, loan workouts, construction lending, and refinancing. He also assists clients in the selection of the proper entity for real estate investments including joint ventures, partnerships, corporations, and limited liability companies.
In addition to his real estate work, Joe is an experienced litigator, handling a wide variety of litigation matters including criminal defense, real estate litigation, landlord-tenant proceedings, mortgage foreclosure, and commercial litigation for institutional and private lenders. Joe’s background as a Special Prosecutor for the Incorporated Village of Hempstead shapes his approach when defending clients in criminal matters and gives him unique insight when questioning police officers and other witnesses, negotiating plea agreements, and analyzing evidence presented at trial. His litigation practice also encompasses all types of commercial and business disputes including shareholder/member breakups, contract breaches, breach of fiduciary duty claims, and employment matters.
Joe’s diverse legal background enables him to work with real estate and corporate clients, including individuals and entities of all sizes, in the negotiation and drafting of corporate governance documents, corporate contracts including vendor, nondisclosure, and outsourcing agreements, and strategic business planning. His litigation experience also enables him to develop and recommend company policy on various legal issues with the goal of anticipating and preventing costly litigation.
Prior to joining the firm, Joe worked as a sole practitioner for ten years, giving him the opportunity to develop significant skills in the real estate, litigation, and corporate arenas. In addition to his work as a Special Prosecutor, he also served as a hearing officer for the MTA’s Transit Adjudication Bureau, conducting hearings and related proceedings in civil matters.
