Ronkonkoma, NY – Jonathan “Jack” Harrington, Counsel at Campolo, Middleton & McCormick, LLP and a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Reserve, has been elected to the Board of Directors of Our Military Kids, Inc., a national nonprofit organization supporting children of deployed National Guard and Reserve service members and children of wounded warriors from all service branches.

For children of National Guard and Reserve personnel deployed overseas, lengthy separations from a parent can lead to increased stress and anxiety.  Many of these families live far from a military installation, and they are often the only ones in their neighborhood or school with a parent serving overseas.  Founded in 2004 to acknowledge the sacrifice of military kids and their parents, Our Military Kids (OMK) distributes grants to pay fees for athletic, fine arts, and tutoring programs for the children of these military families. The organization has distributed nearly $25 million through more than 60,000 grants to children in all U.S. states and territories, and has never turned away an eligible family.  The activities provide the children with a positive experience during a challenging time in their lives – a deployment or a parent’s recovery from severe injury.Jack Harrington, Esq. Barry Miller, Chairman of the OMK Board of Directors, said that Harrington is a welcome addition to the board because of his support and advocacy for military families, as well as his professional experience. “As a Reservist, Jack understands the challenges that military families face. He brings a wealth of knowledge and a strong commitment to our mission,” Miller said.  “We look forward to his leadership as we continue to build support for our military children.”

Harrington chairs the International Regulation, Enforcement & Compliance and Cybersecurity practice groups at CMM. He offers clients critical guidance in cybersecurity compliance obligations, responses to and mitigation of data breaches, and the often inconsistent web of legal requirements surrounding electronic data protection. Harrington also counsels clients from multinational public companies to individuals in a variety of white collar and enforcement matters and provides compliance and governance advice to corporations with a global footprint.  In addition to his legal practice, Harrington is a recognized national security expert with broad experience across the government, academic, and consulting sectors.

A resident of Stony Brook, New York, Harrington is a graduate of the University of St. Andrews (Scotland), Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, and Yale Law School, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Yale Journal of International Law. Harrington is a Fellow with the Truman National Security Project.
